摘要

研究者引用「流浪者之歌」作為論文題目，欲探究近年來在台灣的公益旅行者透過「公益旅行」以達到自我實現的歷程。研究對象為耕莘青年山地學習工作團（簡稱山學團）此一跨校性山地服務學生社團為例，將山學團隊員暑假遠赴新竹縣尖石鄉出隊三星期作為一次公益旅行經驗，以質性研究中的參與觀察與深訪法為研究方法，探討隊員從這次的公益旅行以及因此而選擇留任幹部的這段歷程，以了解公益旅行者對「服務」的定義與認知、探索公益旅行者在服務過程中如何達到「自我實現」、這段歷程對自己本身與社會的影響為何，這三個面向作為論述主軸，來了解公益旅行者在這段期間內如何以服務達到自我實現，以及這樣的經歷的影響為何。
研究發現如下，首先，公益旅行者從參與的過程到真正進入服務的場域，在過程中遭遇的困難，都會讓服務者停下腳步思考並發生變化，這一切正是自我實現過程中不可或缺的改變。其次，公益旅行者們認為服務是以平等尊重為基礎，透過彼此有形的資源與無形的經驗、情感的交流，雙方都能因此而受益。最後，這段歷程帶給個人的影響，讓公益旅行者可以透由過程更了解自己，進而擴充社會網絡。對社會的貢獻有：培育公益旅行者、培力社區、建立公民社會。

By quoting "Siddhartha", the researcher intended to study the process of the volunteer traveler in Taiwan who has reached self-actualization through "the volunteer traveling. "The main target aimed at Tien Mountain Service Corp. It is a student association which serving aborigines. The team members served in summer in Hsin Chu Jianshih Township for three weeks as an experience of volunteer traveling. The method is quality-oriented. It investigated the process of the team members chose to stay in Tien Mountain Service Corp and kept on serving after the volunteer traveling. There are three point of views in the thesis. First, for the volunteer traveler, what is the meaning and cognition of “ service” ? Second, how do the volunteer traveler reach " self-actualization " during the serving process? Third, does this process has an influence on the volunteer and the society? By discussing these three point of view, we can realize that how the volunteer traveler reach self-actualization through serving and what the influence is.
The main findings of this research are as follows:
First, the volunteer traveler encounter difficult in the serviced process, they would made a stand, and changed their mind. Second, the volunteer traveler think “service” is base of equal and esteem, and penetrated with resource and attachment. Third, the volunteer traveler reach self-actualization through serving and influence on them becoming understanding themselves, and expand their relationship. It contributed to people, nourish the volunteer traveler, empowerment community, and set up civil society.
