從觀眾為中心的視點看《髮膠明星夢》字幕英譯中

摘要

過去，影視翻譯中的字幕翻譯於翻譯研究領域中不被受重視，但漸漸地字幕翻譯已成為翻譯領域裡重要的新興學科。目前，學者多從介紹字幕翻譯原理或方法為研究方向，或是進行教學為導向的研究，筆者欲從觀眾為中心的視點來探討字幕翻譯之英譯中，特別選定《髮膠明星夢》作為研究對象。
翻譯作品中有許多主題值得探討，本論文進行《髮膠明星夢》英譯中之DVD版本和網路版本之比較，先探討此部影片的作者及其作品和譯者及相關譯作背景，並且就二種譯文版本如何滿足觀眾的要求、文化觀點、語文含意和影視效果作評析，採取的翻譯理論皆與從觀眾為中心的角度相關，包含直譯與意譯、歸化與異化以及等效理論等，藉以檢視不同譯者對於相同的原文字幕內容，所採取不同的翻譯策略之差異，無論譯者採用何種翻譯策略，皆與觀眾為中心息息相關。
筆者從觀眾為中心的視點看《髮膠明星夢》字幕之英譯中，希望本研究論文對字幕翻譯的理論與實務能有所貢獻。

Scholars did not pay much attention to subtitling of audiovisual translation in the past. Gradually, subtitle translation has become one of the important subjects in the field of translation. So far, most of scholars did the research on introducing the principle of subtitle translation or the teaching method as their orientation in research. This study focuses on audience-centered perspective in English-to-Chinese subtitle translation and uses Hairspray as the case study.
Many subjects of translation could be discussed. This case study does the comparison between DVD and the Internet versions. First, it introduces Hairspray, its background and the subtitle translation. Second, it does the research on the quality, culture, language and effect of translating Hairspray. Third, it uses some translation strategies including literal translation and free translation, domestication and foreignization and equivalence in order to see the differences among the translation versions.
The author hopes that this essay will be helpful for those who are interested in translating or creating subtitle and in subtitle translation theories as well.
