臺灣地區大學生選擇校系因素之分析

A Study of Factors About Undergraduate’s College Choice and Major Choice in Taiwan

摘要


近年來國內大學系所數量遽增,高等教育市場競爭激烈,各大學校院均希望針對學生選擇校系的偏好及需求,進行適當的學校行銷和經營革新,以招收優秀學生。本研究旨在探討臺灣地區大學生校系選擇的影響因素,以提供大學擬定相關經營策略及發展方向之參考。 本研究採用「臺灣高等教育資料庫」92和94學年度一般公私立大學及學院大一學生對於15個選校和10個選系影響因素的調查資料,92學年度有效樣本為16,379人,94學年度有效樣本數為26,268人。本研究主要探討個人變項和學校變項對25個選校系因素的影響,以及選校對選系因素的影響關係。 根據實證分析的結果,可歸納出以下結論: 一、學生選擇大學較重視學系考量及就業考量。 二、學生選擇學系較重視個人興趣及學(術)科能力。 三、不同學年度學生所重視的選校系因素有差異。 四、不同家庭背景的學生在校系選擇看法上有差異。 五、不同學校及學門類型的學生對選擇大學有不同的需求。 六、大學生對選校看法會影響其選系。 本研究综合結論,提出以下建議: 一、對大學校院主管之建議 (一)招生策略上應著重學系特色及畢業後就業狀況的宣傳。 (二)應依據不同學年度學生所重視的選校系因素推展校務。 (三)應建立教育資料庫分析入學學生家庭背景及其影響。 (四)積極透過多方管道了解不同學校及學門類型的學生需求。 (五)妥善運用大學生選校系看法的因果關係以提升學生認同感。 二、對大學系所主管之建議 (一)參考大學生的選校看法發展系所特色。 (二)課程與教學宜調整方向與內容以符合學生未來就業之需求。 (三)課程與教學應考量學生的學習動機及學(術)科能力。 三、對後續研究者之建議 (一)可增加更多的校系選擇因素以進行更廣泛的討論。 (二)多元運用其他研究方法以獲得更深入的觀點。 (三)研究對象可增加父母親及師長以了解不同人士的需求。 (四)可進行技職體系及專校方面的研究以進一步探討本研究結果的適用性。

Recently in Taiwan, higher educational market became more competitive than ever because the number of universities and departments increased abruptly. Based upon high school students’ needs and preference, all university directors hoped to use suitable marketing and reform operation to appeal more outstanding students. So the purposes of the study were to investigate the influential factors about undergraduate’s college choice and major choice in Taiwan and offer some suggestions for university directors to design their operation strategies. Survey data were took from The Taiwan Higher Education Database which included 15 college choice factors and 10 major choice factors for freshmen. 16,379 undergraduate in 2003 and 26,268 undergraduate in 2005 took as samples. Moreover the impact of personal and environmental variables on 25 factors about college choice and department choice were explored. In addition, the casual relationship between the college choice factors and major choice factors were also explored. Some conclusions had drawn from the study as follows: 1.College department and employment opportunities in the future were the major factors for freshmen to consider in college choice. 2.Individual interests and academic capabilities were the major factors for freshmen to consider in major choice. 3.The major factors for freshmen to consider in college choice and major choice were different in the two school years. 4.Family background had different impact on undergraduates’ college choice and major choice. 5.Undergraduates in different colleges and academic areas had diverse demand in college choice. 6.Undergraduates’ college choice influenced their major choice. Besides, some suggestions were proposed to university directors and future researchers. 1.Suggestions to university directors: (1)To emphasize department’s characteristic and employment condition in the future on recruitment strategies. (2)To operate well in university affairs according accordance to with undergraduates’ college choice and major choice in different school years. (3)To build up a database in order to analyze the family background of undergraduates and its impacts. (4)To realize the needs of undergraduates in different colleges and academic areas in diverse ways. (5)To promote the identification of undergraduates with the findings of casual relationship between college choice and major choice. 2.Suggestions to department directors: (1)To develop department’s characteristic by reference to undergraduates’ college choice. (2)To change the courses and teaching to satisfy undergraduates’ needs in future employment market. (3)The courses and teaching should be considered undergraduates’ learning motivation and academic capabilities. 3.Suggestions to future researchers: (1)To increase more factors of college choice and major choice to discuss broadly. (2)To use more research methods to obtain deep understandings. (3)To add parents and teachers as samples to understand their needs. (4)To verify the practical applications of these findings by using samples in vocational and technical education.
