Management of patients following chemonucleolysis of the intervertebral disc should be individualized. A 3-phase approach with goals of controlling pain, increasing mobility, and increasing functional ability is a common practice in a multidisciplinary comprehensive pain program. Manipulation of the sacroiliac joint might improve the success rate of chemonucleolysis if the sacroiliac joint dysfunction is present.
