教育型電影檔案館理念與實踐之研究

摘要


作為20世紀最重要的文化資產之一,影像能否被妥善的保存與維護攸關人類共同記憶、歷史和文化的傳承與延續。電影檔案館長期以來被認為是承擔影像維護職能的核心機構,然而現存文獻中多以國家電影檔案館為研究對象,對國家體制之外的民間電影保存機構關注度不夠。本研究嘗試建立「教育型電影檔案館」這一概念,並通過對南藝大教育型電影檔案館和廈大音像文獻中心兩個個案的論述,來揭露教育型電影檔案館的建立過程、完善其概念與內涵。同時藉由對教育型電影檔案館概念與典範在兩機構間轉移的分析,進一步總結影響教育型電影檔案館建立與發展的因素。 本研究採個案研究設計,以立意抽樣選取南藝大與廈大兩個個案中從事電影檔案保存工作的教育者,透過深度訪談建構教育型電影檔案館的概念與內涵。研究亦以文件分析和文獻分析法作為輔助,以期更加清楚地描述教育型電影檔案館建立與發展背後的社會結構。 本研究所建構的教育型電影檔案館之定義為:教育型電影檔案館著眼於對民間影像資料的蒐集與保存,以影像的物理與數位修復作為支撐,影像保存行動作為鷹架,針對不同的影像檔案設計相應教育活動,藉由教育活動傳授影像修復技藝的同時,強調發揮影像檔案的文化與啟蒙意義,最終落腳於以左翼思想為底色的社會關懷。此外,藉由對兩個個案的對比分析,研究發現國家電影檔案館的管理政策、民間影像檔案的累積程度、檔案館所處的社會文化空間、所在教育機構對檔案館發展的支援和檔案館的資金來源是影響教育型電影檔案館發展的重要因素。其中,國家電影檔案館的政策會影響教育型電影檔案館的機構定位、目標設定及館藏蒐集方式,社會文化空間則決定教育型電影檔案館是否能遂行其在文化領域進行拓展並建立論述的企圖心,這二者對教育型電影檔案館的影響最為深刻。

As one of the most important cultural assets of the 20th century, the preservation of moving images is crucial to the historical memory and cultural heritage of mankind. Film archives have long been considered as the core institutions responsible for moving image preservation, but most of the extant literature has focused on national film archives, and not enough attention has been paid to non-government film preservation institutions. This study attempts to establish the concept of "educational film archives" and exposes the process of establishing educational film archives and the educational paradigms they have established through the discussion of two case studies: the educational film archives of Tainan National University of the Arts and the Film Archive Studies Center of Xiamen University. By analyzing the transfer of the concept and paradigm of educational film archives between the two institutions, the study further summarizes the factors affecting the establishment and development of educational film archives. This study adopts a case study design, in which educators engaged in film archives preservation at TNNUA and XMU are selected by purposive sampling to construct the concept and connotation of educational film archives through in-depth interviews. The study was also supported by documentary analysis in order to more clearly describe the social structure behind the establishment and development of educational film archives. The study defines an educational film archive as one that focuses on the collection and preservation of non-mainstream film materials, on the premise of the physical and digital restoration, considering film preservation action as a scaffolding, designing educational activities for different collections, teaching the skills of film preservation through the activities, and emphasizing the cultural and enlightening significance of the collection, and ultimately, the social care based on left-wing ideology. In addition, a comparative analysis of the two cases reveals that the management policies of the national film archive, the extent of accumulation of non-mainstream film, the openness of public sphere in which the archive is located, the support from the host educational institution, and the funding source are important factors affecting the development of educational film archives. Among them, the policies of the national film archives affect the institutional positioning, goal setting, and collection development methods of educational film archives, while the openness of public sphere determines whether educational film archives can expand and establish related discourses in the cultural field, both of which have the most profound impact on educational film archives.
