Production and Distribution of Taiwan’s Glutinous Rice Industry: A Case Study on Yunlin County

摘要

本研究主要目的在於探討臺灣糯米經營及銷售情況，因此選擇台灣糯米最主要產區之一以雲林為例，透過問卷調查方式，取得栽培戶的生產及銷售最原始資料，利用數量方法分析農戶的生產成本，銷售通路及影響農戶收入、成本的關鍵因素。並探討不同生產規模及運銷通路之下，農民的收入與利潤。本研究的主要結果如下：受訪農戶種植糯米的平均每公頃總成本為63,380元，平均每公頃可得利潤為308,850元，目前搜集到的樣本資料顯示種植糯米生產的規模在 1-2公頃之利潤較佳。運銷通路的選擇方面，雲林縣生產的糯米有95%農民選擇賣給碾米廠(批發商)，再轉運給各通路最後賣給消費者，3%農民選擇繳交公糧，2%農民選擇賣給稻穀販。

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the production and distribution of glutinous rice in Taiwan. Since Yunlin County is one of the main production regions of Taiwan’s glutinous rice, it has been chosen as the study target. A survey is conducted in the research to collect the raw data of the production cost, revenue and profit of glutinous rice farms. The marketing channels of glutinous rice are also investigated. Through quantitative methods, production cost, distribution channel, as well as the key factors influencing farmers cost are investigated. Income and profits under different farm size and various marketing channels are also analyzed. The results suggest that the average cost of glutinous rice for each hectare is NT$ 63,380, and the average revenue is NT$ 308,850 per hectare .The sample data collected reveal that the farms with 1-2 hectare have higher profit than the others. Regarding to marketing channel, 95% of the farmers sell their glutinous rice to wholesalers, 3% of the farmers sell their products to the government, and 2% of them sell the rice directly to retailers.
