ABSTRACT
This research will adopt the post-colonialism and take the baseball games as an agent to analysis the relations between the Han zu and the native Taiwanese in the most popular sport in Taiwan society.
While the native Taiwanese baseball player became successful, the stereotype such as “the Native Taiwanese people are gifted sports players” has been formed through the intermediums like mass media and education. Gradually, the Native Taiwanese people are regarded as the athletic ones and the action of taking these people to be equal to the talented sportsman is the main point of this research.
The interaction mode between native Taiwanese and Han zu is affected by the intermediums of the Han society unconsciously. First, with the existed related articles, this research will try to explain how the native ethnic groups are affected by social rules, economic reasons and political power. Researcher will use Pierre Bourdieu’s economical capital, cultural capital and social capital theories to analyze how the Native Taiwanese people are restricted in their working field and social estate in the Taiwan society.
Second, this research will focus on the cultural domain which is the point of the post- colonialism. Through the post-colonialism, the main gravity of the invasions to the colonies is the despoiling of their political recognition. With the destruction of their own political recognizing and the effect of global capitalism structure, the colonies possess the false consciousness to continue their services to the suzerain. What’s worse, the recognition to their own ethnicity and their subjection will disappear indirectly. Researcher will extend this to the relations between the sport players. This research will adopt the quantitative methods by doing article analysis and interviews.
