Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections have been proofed to directly relate to cervical cancer. The popularity of HPV vaccination would decrease the incidence and prevalence of cervical cancer and reduce the huge medical expenses. It is reported that the knowledge of teens to HPV and vaccination is generally insufficient. Herein, the purpose of study is to compare with differences and effects in improvement of HPV knowledge, health beliefs and vaccination intention after different health educational interventions. Hopefully the study result could provide the reference for the future studies about HPV vaccination in the campus and prevention of cervical cancer. This study was experimental designation. Study subjects were juniors in a university located in central Taiwan. Random sampling was done by class to two experimental groups and a control group. The interventions of experimental group one (n=53) were video and handbook, experimental group two (n=57) were health education program and handbook. The control group received handbook only. The study results were evaluated by structural questionnaires. The pre-test was done before intervention and post-test was completed 2 weeks after intervention. The descriptive and inferential statistics were analyzed by SPSS software version 12.0. The results showed that all three kinds of interventions could elevate the HPV related knowledge and perceived benefits of HPV vaccination. The health education program got the best effect, then video and then handbook. The health education class and video could effectively increase the intention of vaccination. However, the effect was less significant in perceived susceptibility and self-efficacy. In order to encourage female college students adapting the associated procedures to prevent HPV infection, we suggest school authorities to provide handbooks to improve HPV infection associated cognitions and perceived benefits of vaccination. Videos and health education classes would strengthen the intention to receive vaccination.
