利用活性自由基聚合法合成 聚苯乙烯/蒙脫土奈米複合材料之研究

摘要


本研究主要是利用活性自由基聚合法合成聚苯乙烯(PS)/蒙脫土(Montmorillonite, MMT)之有機-無機奈米複合材料。首先以陽離子型界面活性劑(Allyltriphenylphosphonium bromide, AP)進行蒙脫土的表面改質,接著利用總體聚合法(Bulk Polymerization)、穩定自由基聚合法(Stable Free Radical Polymerization , SFRP)及硼烷化學(Borane Chemistry)等三種聚合方式反應,並探討不同種類之蒙脫土含量、改變反應時間的影響。 對於總體聚合反應所得到的產物,由X-ray分析得知其層間無法有效撐開,且由GPC量測出聚合物的分子量分佈廣。另外在穩定自由基聚合法及硼烷化學反應中,由X-ray分析發現層間可以完全撐開達到剝離現象,由GPC量測出聚合物的分子量分佈窄,且符合活性聚合。由DSC及TGA證明添加蒙脫土可提高聚苯乙烯的玻璃轉移溫度(Tg)及裂解溫度(Td)。菲卡軟化點測試中探討蒙脫土含量對其軟化溫度影響,最後以穿透式電子顯微鏡(TEM)來證明所得到的產物是否已達奈米級複合材料。

Polystyrene / Montmorillonite (MMT) was synthesized via living free radical polymerization. A cationic surfactant, Allyltriphenylphosphonium bromide (AP) was used to perform the ion exchange with inorganic ion of MMT. Polystyrene–clay nanocomposites were prepared using bulk polymerization、nitroxide-mediated radical polymerization, and borane chemistry procedures. Experimental results indicate that the PS/MMT nanocomposites can be prepared by Nitroxide-Mediated Radical Polymerization, and Borane Chemistry. Additionally, exfoliation of modified MMT in polystyrene matrix was achieved, as revealed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). For the thermal tests, adding MMT increased the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the degradation temperature (Td). Meanwhile, our results further demonstrated that, for the narrow polydispersities (Mw/Mn), the nanocomposites exhibit a higher Vicat softening point with an increased loading of modified MMT in polystyrene.
