國小聽覺障礙學生英語教材執行之教學行動研究:以啟聰學校為例

摘要


本研究旨在實施一冊自編聽障學生英語教材,從中探討其教學歷程及可行的教學法和活動設計。透過教學行動研究,藉由正式和非正式的訪談、錄影觀察、教學日誌及檔案蒐集資料,再就所蒐集資料進行整理、歸納與分析。教學歷程分為三個階段,英語教材實施初期、英語教材實施中期、英語教材實施後期。英語教材實施初期包括英語學前評量及學習氣氛的營造;英語教材實施中期以教材第一課和第二為主;英語教材實施後期以第三課和第四課為主。以下幾個教學法可增進聽障學生英語學習:1.直接教學法:以實物及圖片幫助聽障學生理解英文字母及單字。2.默示法:教師多以沉默暫緩告訴學生答案,培養聽障學生的自主性。3.情緒解放法:教師布置輕鬆環境並以言語鼓勵聽障學生增加自信。4.多感官教學法:教師以視覺、聽覺、觸覺、動覺等不同感官幫助聽障學生學習英語。5.綜合溝通教學法:教師以對學生最有利的方式,不限使用手語、口語、筆談、肢體動作等等協助聽障學生學習英語。依據上述結果,本研究並分別對國內聽障英語教學及未來研究提出具體建議。

Abstract The purpose of this study is to discuss the features of English teaching and teaching methods for the students with hearing impairment by practicing an English textbook edited for hearing impaired students in the classroom settings. The procedure of the research include data collection carried on formal and informal interviews, the video recording observation, the students’ work and files to students with hearing impairment and their parents or guardians, and reorganization, the induction and the analysis on the collecting material. According to the analysis and findings, the conclusion can be induced as the follow: Students with hearing impairment encounter learning difficulties, including unacquaintedness with English alphabets, particularly the lowercase letters, low self-confidence, the individual differences among the hearing impaired students, failure of learning English sufficiently because of underachievement on the Chinese language learning.The following teaching methods are suggested may promote the English learning of the students with hearing impairment:1.Direct Method: a teaching approach to help students with hearing impairment to understand English alphabets and vocabulary through realia and pictures.2 Silent Way: a teaching method that teacher has to remain silent and give students with hearing impairment more time to answer to a question to enable them become more independent and autonomous. 3.Desuggestopedia: a teaching method to boost the confidence of students with hearing impairment through arranging friendly learning environment and verbal encouragement.4.Multi-sensory Teaching Approach: a teaching method that help students with hearing impairment to learn English through visual, hearing, kinesthetic and tactile senses. 5.Total Communication: teacher applies the most beneficial learning method, no matter via sign language, spoken language, conversation by writing, and even body movement to accelerate the English learning of students with hearing impairment. Based on the above findings, this study also provides concrete suggestions regarding teaching English to the pupils with hearing impairment in the elementary schools and future research.
