A comparison study on static and dynamic behaviors of Taipei Ta-Chi cable-stayed bridge is performed in the study. The initial shape of Ta-Chi cable-stayed bridge is first determined by using the two-loop-iteration method including shape iteration and equilibrium iteration. Based on the determined initial shape the static deflection of the bridge under traffic loads and the natural frequencies and vibration modes are examined detailedly. The results of the theoretical analysis are compared with the data of engineering practice design. The difference in structural behaviors between bridges with vertical straight pylon and curved pylon, floating girder system and multi-supported floating girder system has been also examined detailedly in the study.
