孤島凝視‧流變地方:澎湖東吉聚落的記憶、想像與認同

摘要


本研究以澎湖東吉聚落為研究對象,特別針對其存在之遷移與返鄉間特殊的流動性與認同形式進行研究,以及探究關於東吉地方抗爭事件的始末過程,試圖釐清其地方脈絡、社會關係、文化表徵與時空意義。藉此回應與反思認同在現代與傳統、新舊交替中的時空意義,以及辯證地方脈絡所存在的社會空間狀態,進而展現當代社會的真實性與認同價值。 在東吉的地方事件裡,擁有一種特殊流動世界的樣貌,如此流動性,看似促成東吉地方的開放、分化與失序,但依然未曾減少東吉人對地方的認同意識,東吉人遊走於東吉島與新居地高雄間,重構並創造了具有根源性的東吉島,以及移民社會建構下的新居地。東吉聚落歷經了現代與傳統所交融的結果,除了造就原鄉聚落的改變,以及新居地的適應外,也逐漸滲入另一股抵抗認同的力量,呈現一個傳統小漁村正對抗著一個現代主流意識的國家,並透過每年返鄉來抵抗國家意識,以維繫兩處故鄉的社會關係與根源性,同時將東吉島與高雄新廟形塑為具有抵抗性認同的核心。原鄉與新居地的區隔,祖廟與新廟的牽引,以及抵抗台電意識的高漲,讓東吉人藉由返鄉尋根來形塑一股對地方認同的使命感。所以,東吉地方感在時代脈絡下,是個不斷演替更新的過程,能創造與延續東吉地方的存在價值,更能強化其獨特性與自明性。 在東吉地方概念中,存在著原鄉的社會關係、地方信仰與認同基礎,經過現代與傳統的新舊時空交替,在新居地創造新的認同價值,並再次連結原鄉的地方記憶與信仰,而歸屬與認同其一開始的根源性。如此的根源性認同,亦促成地方的宗教信仰成為社會抵抗運動的力量來源,即使不同世代的抗爭訴求已經轉變,但他們所關懷的地方依然不變的存在。因此,東吉聚落的地方感確實擁有一股引人注目的魅力,成為本研究探討關於地方記憶、想像與認同的最佳對象。

This thesis tries to explore the specific flowing identity of migration and return home in Dongji settlement, a lonely fishing village belongs to Penghu province, Taiwan. The homeland is forgotten for people of Dongji in the past 40 years due to industrialization process in Taiwan, many people left home for new jobs, even local spirits were moved to new hometown with the immigrates. The village more and more silence and lonely. 1996, Dongji’s identity was revived when central government and TPC(Taiwan Power Company) announced this village had been selected as a nuclear energy junk storage place, the decision arose Dongji’s people reunion and leading a series of resistance activities for protecting homeland, they start to organize a “go home boat flotilla” go back and forth between new homeland and Dohgji every summer, and following the local spirits’(traditional power) indication to decide when is the best period to go home and mix up with environmental protection topic, a defensive identity awaken in the “go home” process, they change the meaning and landscape of homeland from declining fish village to a defensive sacred land and self-recognized as defensive “others” to face the developmental power of state. This identity project worth further empirical studies for the case is quite different from rational defensive mode following by the civil society procedure; the local spirits belief play a critical role seems project a local base vision of identity studies. In order to explore the specific identity formation, the research will figure out the relationship between local social context, cultural symbolic meanings’ transformation, defensive organization, articulation mode between tradition and modern, and the discourse of central government (modern state with developmental procedure) for understanding the sense of place in Dongji.
