進入隔代教養世界—以兒童的觀點探究隔代教養家庭需求

摘要


近年來,隨著家庭組合方式的多元化,「隔代教養家庭」議題漸受注目,同時,相關的報導、負面新聞、憐人問題等漸漸的被凸顯出來,媒體的報導及教育觀點的研究,將隔代視為是一種負向的標籤。當社會大眾開始對隔代教養家庭產生恐慌時,社福體系也開始投入資源為該類型的家庭提供服務,然我們是否也曾檢視過我們看待隔代教養家庭的觀點。社會工作領域近幾年來也開始針對隔代教養家庭提供服務,身為第一線的實務工作者若能瞭解隔代教養家庭樣貌將有助於提供更好的服務。 本文從兒童的觀點及優勢觀點來檢視隔代教養家庭需求,研究採用質性方法中的深度訪談來進行資料的收集。本研究針對十位國小學童進行訪視,研究發現「父母親」對兒童而言是很重要的角色,父母親的分或離是兒童用來解釋成為隔代教養家庭之因,另外,父母雖然缺席,但在兒童心中是從不缺席且無可取代。在與祖父母相處上,受訪者表示祖父母滿足兒童的基本需求,如食衣住行等,並非滿足其額外需求,多數受訪者對目前的狀態是非常滿足的。而在與外部的聯繫上,受訪者自覺鄰里、老師、同儕的態度是包容甚過歧視。對國小階段的兒童而言,家庭團聚、家庭永不變動及經濟改善是他們最大的願望。 本文文末針對社會工作實務、社會工作者本身以及學校教育上提出討論與建議,期待藉由本研究之受訪者的敘說故事來讓實務界更為瞭解隔代教養家庭樣貌,進而提供更為優質的服務。

In recent years, as families being more diverse than ever, the topic of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) draws more attention. The public usually holds a negative view towards the topic, because of the negative news reported and the researches conducted by educators. The social welfare system steps in and helps when the public fears the emergence of GRGs, but shouldn’t we also re-examine our point of view on GRGs? Social work system has been working with GRGs for the past few years, and as a social worker facing clients, understanding a GRG would be helpful to provide better service. This essay evaluates the needs of a GRG both from children’s views and the strength perspective. Data and information were collected by in-depth interviews. After interviewing ten elementary schoolchildren, the conclusion is that parents play a crucial role in children’s lives in that parents’ divorce or separation may be the cause for GRGs. Despite the absence of the parents, the children still consider them irreplaceable. In discussing their relationship with grandparents, the children said that grandparents provide only basic needs for life, but most children are content with the situation. In discussing their relationship with outsiders, the children feel that the neighbors, teachers, and classmates, are being rather sympathetic than biased. To these elementary schoolchildren, having a complete and steady family and being better off economically remain their biggest hopes. In the final part of the essay, recommendations and discussions are proposed for social work practice, social workers and school education. Through the words of the interviewees, we look forward to uncovering the insights of GRGs And with a better understanding to GRGs, a social worker can therefore provide better service.
