第二型糖尿病為世界十大死因中的第六名,每10人就有1人患有第二型糖尿病,慢性糖尿病也是威脅國人健康的主因之一。木鱉果為苦瓜屬之植物,而苦瓜已被證明有許多功效,包括抗氧化、抗發炎及改善糖尿病等,故推測木鱉果也有改善糖尿病之作用。木鱉果全果分果肉、假種皮、籽,假種皮含有較高的類胡蘿蔔素、葉黃素及茄紅素等營養成分,而木鱉籽被當作中藥材,具有消散和清涼性能,用於預防肝臟疾病,治療傷口等。本研究以木鱉果全果中的果肉、假種皮及籽作為樣品,使用50%乙醇萃取並進行活性成分之分離,以正常小鼠肝臟FL83B 細胞測量樣品之細胞毒性。再以高葡萄糖誘導FL83B 使細胞產生胰島素阻抗性,探討萃取物於正常及阻抗性細胞調節血糖機制,並發現假種皮、果肉以及籽之乙酸乙酯萃取物對阻抗細胞可增加其對葡萄糖攝取之能力,並以西方墨點法探討胰島素傳訊之路徑及葡萄糖轉運蛋白GLUT2表現。

Momordica cochinchinensis(gac) is the Momordica genus, Momordica charantia showed the function effects including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, inhibition diabetic , it may be showed the effect of improving diabetes the same as Momordica charantia. The gac oil contains higher nutrients such as carotenoids, lutein and vitamin C, the gac seeds are used as Chinese herbal medicines on exhibiting wound healing, hemorrhoids, bruises, edema, suppuration, liver and spleen disease prevent. The gac pulp, seed aril, seed were be extracted with 50% EtOH, MTT assay test in normal mouse liver FL83B cells. Further, the extracts would be used to regulate the glucose uptake in normal and resistant cells, the insulin resistance of FL83B cells was induced by high glucose, and the glucose uptake of the treated cells would be observed. The insulin signaling pathway and the expression of glucose transporter GLUT2 were explored by Western blotting.
