核心能力自Prahalad and Hamel 於1990年發表了“Core Competence of the Corporation”之後,就受到相當的重視。而企業的經營,除了必須具備核心能力,才足以領先其他競爭者外,也必須整合相關事業機能並有效經營,才足以為功。因此,本研究係探討核心能力與TQM,對競爭優勢及經營績效的影響。 本研究以台灣地區的製造業為研究對象,實證資料利用因子分析與結構方程模型(Structural Equation Modeling, SEM)進行分析。結果發現:核心能力與TQM兩者皆顯著影響競爭優勢,且競爭優勢顯著影響經營績效;但核心能力與TQM皆無顯著直接影響經營績效。故一企業為了增進經營績效,應創造核心能力與實行TQM,經由兩者強化競爭優勢進而提升經營績效。本研究建議:有關核心能力方面,須強化以下的做法:1.品質、數量彈性與降低成本能力;2.R&D與快速上市能力;3.國際拓銷與服務能力。在施行全面品質管理方面,必須強化如下的做法:1.人員導向作法;2. 製程管理;3. 顧客參與;4. 供應商品質管理;5. 跨機能產品設計。藉由這些做法,以期達到更佳的經營績效。
The term “core competences” emerged on the management science and coined by the advocators, Prahalad and Hamel, in the article Core Competence of the Corporation. In order to achieve excellent business performance, core competences is important but may be only one of its requirements. It should be integrated with management functions and business functions. TQM is a holistic management philosophy that strives for continuous improvement in all functions of an organization, and it can be achieved only if the total quality concept is utilized from the acquisition of resources to customer service after the sale. Thus, this study will discuss the impact of TQM and firm’s core competences on competitive advantage and business performance. Using factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM), this study empirically test the hypothesized relationships based on the data collected from manufacturing firms in Taiwan. The results indicate that both core competence and TQM impact competitive advantage significantly, and competitive advantage impacts business performance significantly; but neither core competence nor TQM impact business performance directly. Therefore, to increase business performance, manufacturer should create core competences and implement TQM.
