摘要
本文介紹三個專題。只是清淺的介紹，沒有太多技術上的描述。主要是希望能給大家一點統計學應用的感覺。大部分的論文，都因為和Journal of Data Science有關而被我讀到，這幾年來我所見到的其它統計應用遠不止此。因爲各行各業的人士，能拿到數據的人太多了。他們終究不得不問：這裡面有甚麼信息？我覺得統計學是逐水草而居的科學。有哪一種數據，就該發展哪一種方法。而在某類數據多的時候，分析的需求就產生了新的手法，甚至於產生基本上的修正。生物資訊是很好的例子，但我所介紹的和生物資訊沒有關係。

In this article, I introduce 3 topics that I have been working with recently. They are parity tests, SARS studies and topological indices. The main purpose is to demonstrate the diversities of statistical applications. All these are for situations where statistical methodologies can be very useful, but statisticians sometimes attack the wrong problem with their best tool.
