The Internet has been existing in the academic society for years. However, until the last five years, the library community in the States began to recognize the ultilization of Internet resources is essential to provide better technical and public services to their patrons. This article analyzes the situations and impacts of academic and public libraries' use of Internet resources. At the end, the author proposes two suggestions to accelerate the achievement of the virtual library in the information age.
