從“賢媛”到“列女”:以敘述觀點理論探究《晉書․列女傳》之性別意識

The Gender Consciousness of the "Worthy Ladies" in the History of Chin: A Study from the Perspective of Narratology

摘要


本論文旨在以敘述觀點(point of view)理論切入分析《晉書․列女傳》之性別意識。由於《晉書․列女傳》在重新敘述取材自《世說新語․賢媛》的故事時,經常利用敘述方式的改變或是加入其他史料的方式改變原有的女性形象,並使其得以「標準化」;所以才能使得原本追隨魏晉時風注重個人意識的「賢媛」,成為符合唐代史官「具宣閨範,有裨陰訓」立傳需求的「列女」。可見,在《晉書․列女傳》作者心目中,一個善盡輔佐之責又甘居從屬地位的女性,才是其所稱許的。

The purpose of this paper is to examine, from the perspective of the point of view , the portrayal of the gender consciousness of ”Lieh nu chuan(列女傳)” in Chin Shu(晉書). When the narrators of the ”Lieh nu chuan” narrate the stories from ”Worthy Ladies(賢媛)” in A New Account of Tales of the World(世說新語), they usually use the mode of point of view or other stories from somewhere to change the portrayal of the female. Then they standardize this changed portrayal, which results in the mutual convergence between ”feminine virtue(婦德)” and ”talented character(才性)” during the Wei and Chin periods, and later becomes the exemplary women of the wise wives and good mothers to correspond to Tang Dynasty's narrators' purpose. It is obvious that the author of the ”Lieh nu chuan(列女傳)” in Chin Shu(晉書)praises a female who is good at assisting her husband and is willing to obey the male.
