The Effects of Serves on Elite Single Male Tennis Game Results in Taiwan

摘要

The purpose of this research is to examine and discuss the characteristics of the serves of elite male tennis players during singles competition. The top sixteen single players of the CPC Tennis Competition in the Taipei were observed using cameras and examined their serving performance. Records and analyses, the statistics of description, T-test, and Person's Correlation were applied to analyze and to find out the possible relationship between the players skills in serving and rally in competition. The consequence of the research are as follows. First, the percentage of first serve, second serve, valid serve, break point draw and final winning is always better for the winner of the tournaments than the loser. Therefore, the success of serve depends on multi-technical supports to keep serve game, which is the very way to victory. Nowadays tennis player who excels at every aspect of playing tennis could face any games situation and achieve a complete triumph. Next, as for the relationship between the first serve point, second serve point, percentage of valid serve, and ACE , the four causes are proportional. Scoring after a serve gives the tennis player a higher odds of winning. If the players can serve aces at the right time in the games, it not only help to keep serve game but also has a positive effect on the victory of the game.
