摘要

A total of 118 undergraduate medical students were evaluated from July 1987 to June 1988. They were divided into three groups, Group A:84 sixth year students who enrolled the training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; Group B:22 seventh year students who elected the training program and Group C:12 seventh year students who did not elect the program. Students were evaluated, by written examination, before and after the course completion. The written examination consisted of basic understanding and clinical application in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation field. Grading was on scoring basis with 100 in full score. The results of pretest and posttest in different groups were analysed statistically. There were some improvement in total scoring for the three different groups, Group A:from 61.9 ±8.4 to 74.6 ±5.7 score; Group B:from 64.2±5.8 to 75.0 ±5.6 score and Group C:from 63.5 ± 5.2 to 67.7±5.5 score. However only group A and B could obtain the statistically significant improvement(p < 0.02 and p<0.01 respectively). Group C.who .did not participate in the PM & R curriculum during their internship.shown no significant improvement in the results (p> 0.05). This preliminary result may illustrate that to learn the experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is very important through clinical practice as well as lectural instruction. A broader understanding of the principles of rehabilitation will be very helpful for the undergraduate medical student to have a rehabilitated mind in total care of patients.
