科技性別化現象古今中外皆然。本文回應性別主流化政策,問題意識起於對歷史以來造成科技領域性別傾斜的因素有所質疑並進行批判。針對女性在科技領域中的位置,從鉅觀社會脈絡到微觀個人氣質,深入探討科技性別化現象的形成,從科技社會學與女性主義取向反省科技性別疆界的鞏固與流動可能性。文章首先分析科技性別化的歷史成因解釋及其對女性科技學習之影響,歸納七種科技性別化論述─能力說、選擇說、社會說、教育說、氣質說、文化說、知識論旨趣說,並提出三種解構科技性別化的途徑-女性進入科技、善用女性特質、發展女性科技或另類科技。本文透過重新反省科技/性別的關係,藉由質疑主宰性別主宰科技發展主宰科技主宰性別論述之可能,並提出未來研究建議,或許女性可能透過主宰科技成為主宰性別,但本文更期待多元共存的性別-科技關係。
The technology-gender gap and gendered-technology is a continuing issue in education. This paper focuses on gender-technology relations to address the policy of gender mainstreaming. The awareness of the issue is based on my critique and question for the historically gender inequality in the field of technology. It also questions the ”technology as a masculine culture” and ”technology as a male institution.” Based on the sociological and feminist theories, this paper aims to rethink the female position in technology in order to articulate the formation of the gendered-technology phenomenon. It concludes seven gender-technology discourses mirrored from the gendered structure in the wild society-the discourses of ability, preference, socialization, education, femininity/masculinity, culture, and epistemology. It offers various explanations of why gendered-technology appears and how it reflects the schooling and societal expectation outside the education. It then proposes three ways to deconstruct the gendered-technology phenomenon. Finally, it suggests some directions for further research on breaking the gender-technology boundary.
