Taekwondo athletes perform faster and with more diverse attack movements than before due to rule changes, which also lead to higher attack motivation of the athletes and at the same time increase the difficulty level of attack movements. Consequently, these various factors result in more Taekwondo sports injuries than before. Purpose: The study explored the types of Taekwondo injuries. This also helps us to have a better understanding of the principles for treating injures. Method: Based on literature review, Taekwondo injury types were classified and principles of injury treatment were recommended. Conclusion: Because of rule amendments and technological changes in competition, the incidences of contusion, sprains and strains in Taekwondo injury were raised. When the injury occurs during competition or practice, ”P.R.I.C.E.” principle should be immediately used, and follow-up treatments will be made based on injury types. Proper treatments of sports injuries can on the one hand reduce the damage level and avoid secondary injury, and on the other hand, recovery time can also be shortened which can help athletes to return to the battle field earlier.
