一位海洛因成癮引發肺水腫病患之護理經驗
The Nursing Experience of Caring Pulmonary Edema in a Heroin Addict

Drug abuse can be detrimental to a person's physiological and psychological health. This report discusses the nursing experience of caring a pulmonary edema patient complicated by heroin addiction in an intensive care unit. Data collection and analysis from May 4 to June 7, 2006 were done within the framework of Gordon functional health pattern through observation, intervention, and physical examination. These nursing diagnoses were ineffective breathing pattern, acute pain, and ineffective coping. Based on the findings, we encourage the client abstinence from using drugs by accompaniment, encouragement, empathy, and the need to help the client to increase interaction with family. We also cooperate with other health care providers to arrange abstinence plan, continuing giving sympathy and follow-up to help the client to quit using drugs and to increase life quality. This nursing experience can be used as a good example for taking care of patients with similar problems.
