Since the emergence of the Internet, residents in university campus have enjoyed the benefits brought by the fast evolution of network infrastructure, in particular, a superhighway of connection speed. Such rapid changing environment also drives the need of diverse service development and open platforms. This paper presents a continued work toward providing a media integrated service in campus-wide broadband network to put more vigor into the community. The end products are multimedia multicast center 1 and campus IP-telephony. In contrast to most proprietary systems that often lead to cost prohibitive, we appeal to Java JMF technology so that the issues of heterogeneous platforms and ubiquitous access can be tackled. The effectiveness of our design approach is demonstrated via actual experimentation at NKFUST.
