中風是台灣的十大死因之一。中風常是多因子病因,包括基因與環境的致病因。有些疾病被視為是中風的危險因子,如高血壓、糖尿病、高血脂等。而大多數的中風病患都會伴隨著失能和(或)失智,而其醫療花費及照顧亦造成家庭及社會的負擔。流行病學研究指出,抽菸與酗酒會增加中風的危險,且其有劑量效應的關係。相反的,健康的飲食及規律的身體活動可以減少中風的危險。本文回顧了許多生活型態與中風危險之研究,目的在提醒民眾注意生活型態以預防中風。
Stroke is one of the top ten leading causes of death in Taiwan. Most common stroke events are caused by multiple factors involving both genetic variants and environmental factors. Some diseases were reported as risk factors for stroke such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, and hyperlipidemia. Many stroke survivors were left with disability and/or dementia in our population. The cost of medical support for stroke is a burden for the family and for the society as well. Epidemiologic studies suggested that lifestyle such as heavy alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking increased the risk of stroke, and there was a dose-response effect in it. In contrast, healthy diet and regular physical activities may reduce the risk. For the purpose of reminding people to pay attention to their lifestyle for preventing stroke, this paper review previous studies about the lifestyle and risk of stroke.
