Linguistic Means to Express an Instrument in Komi Dialects

Typological studies of case semantics are topical in modern linguistics. The present study used semantic analysis of cases to ascertain the rules of expressing an instrument in Komi. According to the results, the main case carrying that function is the instrumental, but it is not the only one. Among the rest there is a tendency for the accusative and inessive to become less frequent vs the growing productivity of the elative and prolative cases.
