This study aims to explore indigenous health care demands and problems practically in Taiwan, and then addresses the meaningful issues. We propose several critical issues from indigenous health care demands and the associated problems below: (1) specific diseases and unhealthy behavior, (2) discrimination, social pressure and over-drinking issues, (3) disadvantageous economy and labor situations, and (4) shortage of health care resources in rural areas. According to the literature review and our findings, several suggestions provided are as follows: (1) We should provide social and culturally orientated treatments, support services, and support groups for indigenous people. (2) We should help urban indigenous people to construct social support networks for themselves with an empowerment approach. (3) We claim that the government ought to keep on making up for the shortage of health care resources to rural indigenous people. (4) The government ought to make social policies with an approach based on multiculturalism. (5) The government should provide concrete indigenous health care policies through interdepartmental cooperation.
