In this paper, we introduce the development of LED technology, including the improvement of luminaire efficacy, LED optical design, LED package, and optical utilization of light from Luminaires. In recent years, since LED sources are widely used in many lighting environments, LED lighting standardization and regulations from international organizations, such as IESNA (The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America), CIE (International Commission on Illumination), UL (Underwriters Laboratories), and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), become much important. The level of human-factor technique and light pollution are also key issues for the use of lighting Luminaires and will be demonstrated in this study.
