The goal of this case study is discussing the condition of a patient diagnosed with major depression, experienced a broken marriage. However, the patient was not able to cope with the stress, while the behavior of crying, repetitive oral suicidal attempts, and physical symptoms have appeared. During the treatment, due to the long-term negative cognition, some physical problems have appeared, such as messy sleep-awake cycle, irrational coping capabilities, confusing self-value. Based on the therapist-patient relationship and the theory of cognitive therapy, the patient’s irrational believes have been improved. Positive coping capability is important to hinder the automatic negative cognitive thoughts. Cognitive therapy could effectively change the patients irrational believes; to provide other solutions for the patient to deal with their problems. Additionally, correcting patients' irrational believes leading to disturbing emotion, behavior, and thought is important, learning new coping capabilities, and meanwhile applying to their daily life.
