摘要
壁球運動在歐洲是風行已久的運動項目，由多種相類似的持拍運動綜合演變而來，此項運動是在室內空間中進行，不受任何天候因素影響，是一種結合競技與休閒的運動，適合於各階層民眾從事的終身運動。1986年壁球運動項目取得國際奧林匹克委員會正式認可，直到1998年泰國亞運會列為正式比賽項目，此後，歷屆亞運會皆可看到高水準壁球競賽，因此，亞洲地區逐漸認識壁球運動，並重視國際壁球運動競技成績。然而壁球運動自1953年引進台灣後，至2013年為止，已有60年的歷史，但因場地設備不足以及缺乏專業人員推廣與指導等限制，不少想參與此項運動之族群，因不得其門而放棄，轉為接觸其他運動項目。由於2009年高雄舉行世界運動會，壁球運動亦列為正式競賽項目之一，使得國人逐漸認識壁球運動，尤其2013年天津東亞運我國摘下第一面壁球運動項目銀牌，可見該項運動在國內推廣逐見成效。為推展此一極具發展潛力的運動項目，並朝多層面積極地努力與發展，希望透過本文的介紹能引出更多國內與壁球運動相關議題的討論。

Squash is a popular sport with a long history in Europe from a variety of similar -handed movements comprehensively evolved and played in an indoor space without influence from changeable weather. Squash is combined with competition and leisure activities and is suitable for all players of all levels and ages. In 1986 Squash competition was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1986, and was an official event in the Asian Games in Thailand in 1998. Since then, a high level of squash competition has been seen in many Asian competitions; also thereafter, there has been growing recognition, with more focus on achievement in Asian squash. However, the development of squash in Taiwan for over 60 years from 1953 to 2013 still lacks venues and facilities, and because of the lack of promotion and guidance of professionals and other restrictions, many who have wanted to participate in squash have been unable to, because it can not open doors, and they have given up, moving away from squash into playing in other sports .In the World Games held in Kaohsiung in 2009, squash was listed as one of the official competition events, making people increasingly recognized squash, especially in the East Asian Games held in Tianjin in 2013 where winners of the first squash silver medal offered visible promotion of the sport in the country. In promoting this sport, a great potential for development projects and efforts towards the development of multi-polar areas is recognized, and it is hoped that this introduction could lead to the discussion of more domestic squash-related issues.
