The New Occupational Classification for Social Change Survey is a useful tool for conducting surveys and has been adopted by many researchers in the field of Sociology of Education. However, since the classificatory system of the NOCSCS is essentially nominal, it restricts statistical analysis. This research has led to the development of a refined version of the NOCSCS which I call the New Occupational Prestige and Socioeconomic Scores for Taiwan, to allow for a greater range of statistical analysis. The new scores are quite reasonable and have good construct validity. As far as occupational prestige is concerned, many of the previous prestige scores for Taiwan do not include all occupations. In contrast, the new prestige and socioeconomic scores cover all occupations, including many of Taiwan's special indigenous occupations. This is a unique advantage of the New Occupational Prestige and Socioeconomic Scores for Taiwan.
