Morphological Analyzing of the Folktale Through the DocuSky

Folktale is a genre that everyone has heard from childhood, and the folktale also reflects the projection of the ideal life form in people's minds. Although the content of the folktale has many different scenarios, in the development of the story, more or less follow some similar patterns. Folklore scholars hope that through the analysis and classification of story structure, scientific research on the types of folk stories will be carried out, whether the "Aarne-Thompson (AT) classification" which was commonly used in story structure analysis or the "morphology of the folktale" has used in folklore studies. With the development of digital tools and technologies, we have tried to use the DocuSky Collaboration Platform to analyze Grimms Märchen and Chinese Fairy Tales (中國童話) by Echo Publishing Co., Ltd. Through the collaboration of DocuSky and digital tools, researchers can easily build folktale texts into DocuSky as a personal database, and use functions such as metadata and metatags attach to your data. The classification metadata is convenient for researchers to observe and analyze the text according to their motivation, and even add other folktale sets under the same standard for cross-regional, cross-cultural and even cross-languages comparative research. In this article, we use DocuSky to reorganize and observe the above two folktale texts, explore the social mobility, collective fears and ethnic bias reflected in the texts. We hope to provide a new research path in digital humanities on the study of folktales.
