生死學在護理學院教學的概況檢討

An Evaluation of Death Education at a Nursing College

摘要


國立台北護理學院從民國83年開始發展死亡、瀕死和哀傷的跨學科且是必修的課程。每學期有九個班級400位學生上課。此課程是依據教學目標、教學內容、教材、教學方法和教學評量來修訂。過去四年當中作者進行許多不同方式的效果評量,大致上都獲得學生對課程的肯定,生死學教學是影響學生生死態度的主要因素及針對教學內容及教學方法的改進。課後的問卷調查也發現課程的七個目標達成了六個:改善了逃避死亡的話題、確認自己的信念和態度、喪葬處理的認知、面對瀕死進行死亡準備、願意對死亡進行思考、認知瀕死病人的情緒及需要。

An interdisciplinary and compulsory course in death, dying and bereavement was developed in the National Taipei College of Nursing in 1994. Since then, over 400 students have completed the course each semester. The evolution of the course is described along with the development of objectives, selection of content, sequence of presentation of materials, identification of suitable instructional methods, and methods of evaluation. Evaluations of different types conducted since the course began have generally been positive about the course content, factors affecting students' attitudes, and improvement of instructional methods. A follow-up questionnaire based on the seven objectives of the course identified six objectives as having been achieved as a result of the courser a change in attitude away from avoiding talk of death-related topics, identification of personal beliefs and attitudes, giving descriptions of funeral, arrangements, the making of preparations for dying, greater willingness to think about death, identification of terminally ill patients' emotions and needs.
