An Enhanced Braided Multipath Approach for Alleviating Congestion in Wireless Sensor Networks

並列摘要

The wireless sensor network (WSN) is a promising technology that can be employed in realizing many versatile applications for our daily life. In recent years, many researchers have devoted themselves to investigate the issues of the WSNs. One of the critical issues is network congestion. A Topology-Aware Resource Adaptation (TARA) approach is proposed to cope with the congestion in the intersection hot spot. However, it reacts to the congestion slowly since it establishes a detour path after detecting the congestion. In order to resolve the congestion in the WSN quickly, we propose an enhanced braided multipath (EBM) approach to alleviate network congestion. The proposed approach establishes braided multiple paths before congestion occurs so that traffic can be rerouted to another path when congestion is detected. We conducted simulation study to validate and evaluate the proposed approach. Our simulation results show that the EBM approach can effectively alleviate congestion and provide better protection ability with less extra nodes and links than other braided multipath approaches.
