The translation (1998), which was translated by Nana Mirai, is a large best seller more than 1000000 in Japan. It is a translation of ”The fall of Freddie the Leaf” (1982) of Leo F, Buscaglia. It is a very easy picture book, but it is read by persons of not only the children but also wide age. However, between the translation and the original, a difference is seen in the theme of ”life” and ”death”. Therefore I investigate the contents of the theme that Japanese readers read in comparison with the original after reading the translation which was renewed so that it is received by Japanese carefully.
