While Yiddish language was being used actively in the early twentieth century, hundreds of Yiddish films were being produced in Europe and America around the same time. Though films in Yiddish has an unique style, the insufficient production technology has resulted in an unsatisfactory artistic representation. This article begins with an overview of Jewish films in Yiddish language, and analyse English/Yiddish films between 1924 and 1950 through film megazines and movie commentaries. The purpose of this article is to analyize how, as Yiddish films, the developing trends and its limitations, as well as how dispora was characterized through Jewish films.
