Producing Stainless Steels by the AOD Process

摘要


AOD轉爐精煉法(The Argon-Oxygen-Decarburization Process)一九六八年經美國聯合碳化物公司(Union Carbide Corporation)研究開發並商業化後已成為生產不銹鋼的主流,該方法具有高脫碳能力、高生產性,生產鋼水的高品質,低成本等優點。目前AOD精煉發展方向,趨向降低副原料和氣體的使用量及縮短冶煉操作時間以降低成本,世界各國的煉鋼廠更努力開發使用AOD轉爐生產特殊鋼、特殊合金鋼,以擴展AOD轉爐的適用性。由於自由世界對於不銹鋼的需求量,迅速遞增,且由於不銹鋼對於日常生活的重要性,未來不銹鋼市場將深具潛力。本文報告AOD精煉法在唐榮不銹鋼廠開始生產之第一年期間的經驗及其基本的操作數據。

The Argon-Oxgen-Decarburization process(AOD), developed and commericalized by the Union Carbide Corporation in 1968, has been widely employed by the steel industry as a major process of producing stainless steels. The process with remarkable efficiency in decarburization during steel refining practice makes it possible to produce highgrade steels with good productivity and low running cost. In order to further cut down the production cost, great efforts have currently been given in raising the recovery of additive materials and reducing the gas comsumptions. Steel making plants in the world have also been devoting their research and development efforts to extend the applications of AOD process in producing special steels and alloy steels. Both of the yearly increasing demand in the free-world market on stainless steel and the importance of its affecting our daily life indicate the potentiality and promise this business. In this paper, the basic operational data and experiences obtained from the first year operation of AOD in Tang Eng Iron Works are reported.
