Although Contemporary Neo-Confucianists and Lao Sze-Kwang share the same kind of ”humanistic concern”, they have different views on Confucianism. Lao Sze-Kwang does not agree with the Neo-Confucianists' idea of ”moral metaphysics”. He thinks that the traditional ”theory of Tieh-Tao”, ”theory of Original Essence”, and the modern ”moral metaphysics” are not on the right track, and the Confucian ”subjectivity” cannot be established in them. This paper aims at distinguishing two different ways of developing Confucianism between Lao Sze-Kwang and Neo-Confucianists, and disclosing the predicament of the globalization of moral ideas.
