摘要

本文探討黃春明〈看海的日子〉中的象徵意義，分別從分別從一、人名，二、花，三、幻境，四、海，五、鰹魚，六、生產過程，六個方面進行分析。本文所謂的「象徵」是指以「具象」的「符號」，傳達「抽象」的「意念」。作者以一種「以實示虛」的方法，表達思想與情感，透過理性的關聯，以具體的意象表達抽象的情感。但作者並不明說，只讓讀者自己體會。所以當讀者發現象徵事物的意涵之後，將有另一種體會。〈看海的日子〉中，運用了許多「象徵」的手法，來傳達作者的意念。透過這些手法的運用，使得小說更耐人尋味，仔細琢磨後，將有更深層的體悟。
