TSMC and FOXCONN Global Industry -- Drive the Development of Taiwan's High-tech Industries

TSMC and FOXCONN are the products of the era of super globalization. TSMC is the world's largest wafer foundry. FOXCONN is based on molds and has gradually developed into a high-tech service company. Hon Hai is a global The largest EMS company, the global industry will be affected by geopolitics and protectionism in 2022. Countries will actively support local supply chains, and the two industries of semiconductors and electric vehicles will attract the most attention. 5G as Infra promotes industry digitalization and market digital transformation, and plays three roles: network construction, service promotion and service creation. 5G applications include VR games, VR audio-visual entertainment, VR retail, VR education, VR construction and real estate, VR Manufacturing, VR healthcare and VR transportation and automotive, etc. The U.S. added eight mainland Chinese companies to its investment blacklist and imposed severe export sanctions on Chinese chip maker SMIC, restricting mainland China's access to advanced technologies. The biggest limitation facing Taiwan's industrial organization is the structure of the global supply chain. Taiwan's production network is a secondary organization under the global supply chain. No matter how the production network is transformed, it must be compatible with the structure of the global supply chain. The Taiwan government's policy is to develop Taiwan into a "high-end manufacturing center", which is not necessarily in line with the world trend, and Taiwan has no absolute advantage. The lack of hardware, water, electricity and talents are even more serious problems. Foreign companies such as Google and Microsoft have invested heavily in Taiwan. They are not factories, they mainly use cheap Taiwanese engineers as R&D bases, and they are also high-energy-consuming industries. Taiwan lacks new economic concept stocks, the scale of incumbents is too small, and the valuation of venture capital is low. As a result, most start-ups set up their holding companies overseas, and rarely consider Taiwan as a listing location.
