運用UbD課程融入國小社會學習領域之學習成效-以中年級為例

THE EFFECT OF INTEGRATING "UBD COURSE DESIGN" IN SOCIAL STUDIES ON COMPREHENSION OF THEMES-A CASE STUDY OF STUDENTS IN MIDDLE GRADES OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

摘要


本研究主要目的在探討運用UbD課程融入國小社會學習領域對國小中年級學生在主題知識的理解及層次之影響情形。透過UbD課程設計來改變過去的傳統式教學,以消費作為探討主題共九節課,每節為四十分鐘,分為三週進行教學活動。所蒐集以質性資料為主,包含教室觀察、學生學習單及九宮格任務單,並參照過去學科成績進行分組進行實驗教學,其主要結果如下:不同能力的學生在接受UbD課程教學後,對於主題知識的理解皆有所提升,其中在高分組的表現上不僅深化低層次的理解內容,在觀點、同理心與自我認識等高層次理解有明確的提升,清楚針對消費主題進行陳述。不過因學齡為中年級階段,正處於學習閱讀技巧轉為透過閱讀進行學習的過程,因此在自主學習時皆需要有教師的引導才能夠一步步將其完整。

The study aims to investigate how the integration of UbD course design influences the depth of the middle grade elementary school students' understanding on the themes. UbD was adopted for innovative teaching activities. The lesson plan involves nine 40-minute sessions focusing on consumer behavior, which were implemented in three weeks. Qualitative data was collected, including classroom observation records, students' learning sheets, and nine-square division learning sheet. Students participating in the experimental teaching activities were grouped with reference of their past academic performance. The main findings are as below. All students showed improved comprehension after experiencing the teaching activities in UbD courses, regardless of their proficiency level. Advanced-level students showed further improvement. They showed deeper comprehension rather than superficial understanding of the themes, displaying more sophisticated perspectives, empathy, self-knowledge, and other high-level cognitive features. They can make logical statements about the theme of consumer behaviors. However, students in middle grade of elementary school are still struggling to apply the reading skills they've learned to facilitate learning. Therefore, they need support from the teachers when working to achieve comprehensive autonomous learning procedure.
