Braudel's "The Mediterranean" and Total History

In Fernand Braudel's first and famous work, The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of PhilipⅡ, some concepts like ”total history” and ”the longue durée” are familiar with historic community nowadays. Many historians argued that the total history is impossible, but Braudel claimed that his histoire totale is a desire. What is the total history? After 1949 ”The Mediterranean” first edition published, this work becomes the classic historiography paradigm in the 20th century, but it is not perfect. It is necessary to reconsider Braudel's concepts through ”The Mediterranean” and its reviews.
