Study on the Formation and Application of English Initialisms in the News Headlines Based on the Analysis of China Daily

摘要

With the development of society, the use and spread of English Initialisms has become one of the fastest growing linguistic phenomena in English. At the same time, English Initialisms are increasingly used in news headlines. This paper mainly uses the sample method, and calculates the number of English initialisms appeared in the news headlines of 2021 November's China Daily to illustrate that news headlines use numerous English initialisms in every sheet and every field. Then this paper summarizes four ways of forming English initialisms. In the end, the paper analyses the reasons for the huge application of English initialisms, so as to help readers better understand English news headlines and provide reference for learning English initialisms in the future.
