The Chinese Literature is an elective subject offered at higher secondary level in Malaysia education system. Its significance in Malaysian Chinese education should not be ignored. The situation and development of the subject's basic components of teaching and examination required our attention. Taking the teaching materials and SPM examination structure of Chinese Literature from 2008 until 2021 as samples, this paper examined the changes in three periods of time. The teaching materials were found revised twice. The analysis revealed that the literary works mainly consist of prose and poem, novel and drama. The imbalance found in the teaching material and examination indicates that there are rooms of improvement for Chinese Literature.
