An interculture study of Akram Khan Dance Company's "Xenos"

The increasingly convenient transportation has broken the boundaries between countries . Therefore, it provides contact and communication between different ethnic groups. With the migration of mankind, the concept of "nation" has become increasingly blurred, and the original "culture" from different ethnic groups is also influencing each other. A Bangladeshi British choreographer and dancer Akram Khan, who himself is an organic "cross-cultural" individual. Although he has been in contact with and received training in traditional Indian dance Kathak since childhood, when he performed this traditional Indian dance on the stage, his body belonged to " Contemporary Dance". As the last full-length solo work of Akram Khan's dancer career "Xenos", it completely shows Akram Khan's interpretation style. In the performance of the work, the phenomenon and process of "intercultural" can be clearly seen from the dancer himself or the protagonist set by the text. This paper cuts in from the angles of dance, music, vision, and the whole stage presentation to analyze Akram Khan Company's "Xenos" in depth, combing out the elements and materials used in the whole work. And based on Patrice Pavis and Richard Schechner's intercultural theory to analyze the patterns and phenomena of "Xenos".
