本研究旨在探討Neil Postman科技與教育觀點及其在教育上的啟示。Postman主要的學說論述係源自對當時美國社會現象的觀察,並承接Munford、Ellul、Innis和McLuhan等人之科技思想,從而開展出媒體生態學學說論述。Postman此一媒體生態學觀點主要從歷史的角度來探究科技媒體之發展,並分析其對人類社會文化的影響。Postman側重探討科技媒體對社會文化以及教育之影響的負面結果,因而主張學校教育應進行改革以作為平衡文化趨勢的手段。透過對Postman科技與教育觀點之詮釋,本研究從學校教育之本質與內涵、兒童教育、我國當前科技媒體教育之課程三方面,來思考其啟示。
This research aims to explore the technological and educational views of N. Postman and their implications in education. Postman’s theory is derived from observations of social phenomenon in contemporary American, accepting the scientific and technological thoughts of Munford, Ellul, Innis and McLuhan, etc., then forming the media ecology. The view of media ecology is major from a historical perspective to explore the development of technology and media and to analyze its impact on human society and culture. Postman focuses on the negative results of the impact in society, culture and education by technology and media; therefore he advocates the school education should be reform then as a means to balance the cultural trends. Through the interpretations of Postman’s views on technology and education, this research consider the implications in three areas: the nature and content of school education, children's education, and current technology and media education courses.
