With an increase in the duration of dialysis, patients on peritoneal dialysis experience deterioration of remaining renal function or impaired peritoneal function due to infection, which subsequently leads to complications such as insufficient toxin clearance or insufficient water elimination. In addition, patients may develop cardiopulmonary vasculopathy, which greatly increases the chance of sudden death. Therefore, it is important to improve patients' dialysis adequacy. Combined peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis can increase toxin and water clearance. The treatment experience of combined peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis on long-term follow-up in 20 patients in our medical center revealed that the treatment results were accompanied by an increase in hemoglobin and decrease in ferritin and serum phosphorus.
