Total Resolutions:
calculating how many times each DOI was looked up
Average Resolutions:
the sum of article resolutions / the number of resolved articles
Resolutions:
the process in which a DOI is in use to receive in return a piece (or pieces) of current information related to the identified entity: e.g., a location (URL)

What is a DOI?

The digital object identifier (DOI) provides an infrastructure for persistent unique identification of objects of any type. It was first introduced in 1998 and now is an ISO standard of identification, data exchange, and citation format. At present, more than 148 million digital objects worldwide employ DOI not only as persistent links but also as the foundation for usage tracking, statistical analysis and high visibility.

Using DOI as a persistent link

To create a persistent link, add"http://dx.doi.org/"before a DOI.
For instance: if the DOI of an article is DOI: 10.5870/airiti003
, you can link persistently to the article by entering the following link in your browser http://dx.doi.org/10.5870/airiti003
