Two patients of cervical cancer were treated by transcatheter internal hypogastric arterial embolization using Gelfoam particles. This procedure was carried out for control of hemorrhage in one of the patients and for relief of the pain in another. The former patient also received systemic chemotherapy and the latte: patient received cisplatin and vincristine by intra-arterial infusion before embolization. Successful arterial embolization allowed further treatment of the underlying disease which was particularly critical as these patients were poor surgical candidates. No significant complications were seen with this approach.
