Isolation and Sequence of Sox Genes from Alligator Sinensis

Sox genes form a large family of transcription factors related to a DNA-binding domain known as the HMG-box, and are highly conservative among different species. In present paper, eight Sox genes (ASSox1a, ASSox1b, ASSox1c, ASSox2, ASSox4, ASSox12, ASSox14 and ASSox22) were cloned and sequenced from Alligator sinensis using highly degenerate primers. There is no sexual difference within and between the eight Sox genes. The cluster analysis indicates that they seem to belong to group B and group C of Sox gene family, respectively.
